We spent a few days anchored off Lanai.  This small island was uninhabited until about 1500, and since then has had a turbulent history of wars, legal shenanigans and boom/bust development.  During the middle half of last century it was the biggest pineapple planation in the world, but now grows none. Most recently Larry Ellison of Oracle Corp bought 98% of the island and has developed a $450 million Four Seasons resort.
We had some good hikes and snorkeling but when we enquired by phone about a taxi tour of the higher elevation, developed, part of the island the drivers said "I'll come and get you if you wish, but we have a torrential downpour here, which will last all day." Down on the coast we had nothing but sunshine, and displays by spinner dolphins.
I went swimming with the dolphins when we were anchored but failed to get good pictures.

While sailing we had an unusually high numbers of visits by dolphins to come and play in our bow wave.
