Toau has a relatively shallow
lagoon, but still adequate for sailing. the main attraction is superb
snorkeling, and of course extensive beaches on the inside. We entered by the pass in the background of the photo, and anchored beside Flora, a boat we had met previously. They are Germans who have been living on board for some time. We were both a bit frustrated to learn that they had spent the previous winter in Campbell River, within sight of our house. The anchorage is behind some shallow coral, which supports a wide variety of fish. |

We
saw this shark followed the wee striped fish for several minutes. The fish seemed quite happy. |

The
beaches inside the lagoon had only our own footsteps. On the ocean side, we found a reminder that navigation in the area is not without its hazards. |
