In
May the snow was mostly gone from the peaks on Vancouver Island that we can
see from home.
There
were sea lions aplenty on Mittelnatch Island, a few miles South of home.On one trip in our small boat we saw some orcas a few hundred metres away, and stopped to watch. Three came within a couple of metres of us, but ignored us completely.
We enjoyed the scenery in great weather, but were appalled at how busy Banff Park was, even as early as May.
Jasper was not bad, while Waterton was not busy at all.

Found
this sign on the trail down Waterton Lake.I had to duck under the rock on the trail. Now idea how a horse could do it.
The
McCubbins enjoyed a day at the zoo, when Alec was still
very young.
The
mainland is clearly visible from many points on the East coast of Quadra,
overseen by our friendly driftwood saskwatch.
Neil spent some time working on our own trail in the woods behind home, and some with the volunteer crew on the Quadra Island trails.
Most of the trails are visible on apps like Trailforks, Alltrails and Gaia.
Being so far from population centres, and without high profile events. it is amazing how many trails have been cut on Quadra.
Most of the work is by volunteers but BC Parks has done some.
