Today it is a developing rapidly, on an island surrounded by mainland mountains, as is apparent in this photo of the main street. The contrast between the construction crane and the mountain behind characterises Tromso.

Weather
was mixed when we were there, and included this double rainbow over the
eastern hills.The photo of the harbour we docked at, and the downtown core was taken near midnight
We
spent quite a lot of time in Tromso, due to Helen having broken two ribs (now
well healed) and deciding to install a new engine.This gave us time to get to know some great local people, mostly sailors.
This reindeer lives with his harem in a University research centre near us, just beside this hill which reminded us that Fall is starting in the North in early September.
Michael and Claire joined us in Tromso for a week, which we spent sailing up into Lyngenfjorden and back
